Camille is a Kiwi, born and raised on a small sandy island in New Zealand, where she once had a pet penguin — yes, really. She's called London home for eight years now, is free to work under Indefinite Leave to Remain, and is fiercely, permanently East London loyal, having renovated a house from the worst on the street into one of the best.

Her design career kicked off at Xero Accounting Software, back when it was still a small New Zealand startup. She landed the job after winning a logo design competition, and helped take Xero to its first million customers by designing the marketing website — before being deployed to San Francisco to help embed its design culture in the US. Her employee shares from those early days eventually funded the deposit on her London house, which is Camille's polite way of telling you that betting on good startups pays off.

After moving to London, she joined Techspace, a property company, where she expanded her UX/UI skills into a new sector.

Her first UK agency contract came together in a ten-minute interview — the hiring manager saw her portfolio and offered her the job on the spot, prompting her to set up a Limited Company before she'd even left the building. From there she took on additional design contracts with agencies including R/GA, Elephant, and Signal Noise (later acquired by The Economist), designing for household names including M&S, Fiat, and Siemens.

It starts with listening — actually listening — to what customers want, rather than trying to sell them something vacuous. If a product doesn't provide real value, Camille won't recommend taking the money for it; it's simply not sustainable.

And from there, it's about finding novel solutions that spark joy in the dark places. She loves to embed efficiency into a project, not over-engineering things.

Lately, she's been increasingly interested in how AI can speed up her process without dumbing it down — building custom Figma and Claude skills, and teaching Claude to design elegantly within an existing design system, just by writing the right prompts.

Camille has spent seven years designing tax and accounting tools, which has made her an accidental expert in a subject most people avoid thinking about. She's now a person who can explain what an HMRC Sender ID actually is, and how a landlord can only claim mortgage interest — not capital — on a property that isn't commercial... Ask her about it. Will be fun.

Off the clock, Camille DJs on the side, is a lover of sober, focused raving, and generally tries to live a healthy life beyond the screen.

Her academic path was a creative one — from studying English and “arty stuff” at high school, to a Bachelor's in Computer Graphic Design, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Web Development. The coding skills from which she still uses to this day.
